You’ve Never Seen Anything Like This Colourful Jewellery

Whoever said money can’t buy happiness had clearly never encountered Bea Bongiasca’s eponymous jewellery collection.

Bongiasca is not one to waste time. The young jewellery designer was born in Milan in 1990 and studied jewellery design at Central Saint Martins in London. She graduated in 2013 and, that same year, founded her own brand and studio in Milan. Just months later, in September 2014, she presented her first collection in 10 Corso Como during Milan Fashion Week.

Her jewellery is hard to miss and unlike anything else on the market. Inspired by a fascination with East Asia and pop culture, the pieces incorporate colourful enamel in playful twirls, crystals and precious metals to create eye-catching statement jewellery that feels more like art than anything else.

All of her pieces are made in Italy by hand and feel like they walk a line between fine and fashion jewellery. The designer strives to keep them accessible but of the highest quality possible, placing them firmly in the demi-fine category.

Bea Bongiasca picked up momentum fast, and was quickly stocked in high-fashion stores Matchesfashion.com and Net-a-Porter, and seen on the hands of celebrity fans including Dua Lipa, Miley Cyrus, Julia Roberts and Ashley Graham.

These hoop earrings are hand-cast in 9-karat gold and coated in a bold green enamel, with two marquise-cut rock crystals punctuating the curve of the hoop.

The Vine Tendril ring is crafted from silver and coated in blue enamel that twines around your finger like the vine it’s named for. Each end is tipped with rock crystals held in place with polished 9-karat gold.

This 9-karat gold and white enamel ring leans more towards fine jewellery than many of the pieces in this range, with a row of pavé diamonds set in the centre band of 9-karat gold, as well as the rock crystal that tips each end.

Heart Charm Single Earring

This statement single earring is made of 9-karat rose gold and red enamel. The lobster clasp lets you remove the heart charm from the earring so you can wear it on a necklace or bracelet instead.

Drop Cut Vine Bracelet

In three fun colour combinations—9-karat rose gold and silver with warm taupe enamel and drop cut topaz, 9-karat rose gold and silver with dark navy enamel and drop cut corundum, and 9-karat rose gold and silver with burgundy red enamel and drop cut topaz—these bracelets can be worn alone or stacked for maximum impact.

Bongiasca’s next collection is currently under production. She told Emirates Woman that she’ll be mixing it up a little, but we can expect it to have very much the same essence

“My next collection is still going to be very colourful,” she said. “I made new rings which are chunkier and bigger. There are also chokers, broaches, bracelets and I’m trying to make some new rings which look stacked. I also made two-tone hoops just to offer something a little different.”
