Yet Another Reason to add The Amalfi Coast to Your Travel List

Ah, the Amalfi Coast: The sun-drenched stretch of Italian coastline that has enraptured travellers for centuries.

Made up of thirteen enchanting towns and cities, the famous coastline is a sight to behold with its colourful cliffside dwellings, picturesque beaches, secluded grottoes, Michelin starred restaurants and panoramic Mediterranean views.

And if those aren't reasons enough to visit, the Amalfi Coast is also home to Medieval masterpiece, the Duomo of Amalfi, where a much-needed restoration plan is underway to repair the cathedral's weary façade. The iconic Duomo of Amalfi, otherwise known as the Cathedral of Saint Andrea, dates back to the ninth century and is an architectural marvel and home of St. Andrea's crypt, the first disciple of Jesus and the Holy Protector of Amalfi.

While we'd be more than happy to lounge by the sea, drinking cocktails under the Southern Italian sun all day, the Duomo of Amalfi is a prime example of everything else this travel destination has to offer. There is simply so much to see and experience on the Amalfi Coast.

To get you set for the day we're all dreaming of, when travel starts up again, we have rounded up 5 of the best cultural sights and outdoor activities that the iconic coast has to offer.

What to See on The Amalfi Coast

Path of the Gods

The legendary Path of Gods is the perfect way for adventurers to see the scenic coastline whilst escaping the bustle of the local cities. The trek spans over 7.8km, winding along mountainside paths and ancient mule routes, meandering in and out of historic towns.

The route, which boasts spectacular views of the colourful coastline and the island of Capri, begins in Bomerano and ends in Nocelle, a sleepy town near Positano.

Marisa Cuomo's Gran Furor Divina Costiera

Located in little-known Furore, a serene cliffside hamlet, is Marisa Cuomo's Gran Furor Divina Costiera. The winery is known for its "extreme wines" due to the steep terraces where the grapevines grow. Book a guided wine tour and explore the cellars and vineyards before sitting down for a wine tasting and sampling of local specialities.

Li Galli Islands

Li Galli is a snorkellers' paradise and is also the alleged home of the mermaids in Homer's Odyssey. Definitely one for the bucket list. Li Galli is made up of 3 islands and is the ideal spot to explore the crystal-clear waters and charming grottoes off the Amalfi Coast.

Terrace of Infinity

A trip to the Amalfi Coast is not complete without a trip to Villa Cimbrone in Ravello to see the famous Terrazzo dell'Infinito (Terrace of Infinity). The terrace offers the most breathtaking view of the Gulf of Salerno and is well worth the €7 entrance fee.

Grotta dello Smeraldo

Just 4km from Amalfi is one of the coast's natural highlights: The Emerald Grotto. Set in the charming bay of Conca de' Marini, the green-hued cavern covered in stalactites and stalagmites can be reached by rowing boat and is the perfect excursion on your way to Capri.
