In some much-needed good news, The Old Fitzroy has just opened its bar and kitchen for delivery.

Now languishing lockdowners across Sydney can enjoy the iconic Woolloomooloo pub’s incredible gastronomic offering without holding their breath for the city to reopen.

What’s more, with its revamped, evolving food and beverage menus, it’s safe to say that this old dog isn't afraid to learn new tricks. Read on for the low down on the iconic pub’s new delivery service and updated food and beverage offerings.

The Old Fitz Delivery Menu: Time to Fitz It Yourself

The Old Fitz delivery offering certainly displays the impressive variety on the pub’s new menu. Entree-sized dishes include the hearty winter-warmer, chestnut soup as well as delightfully fragrant baked saffron mussels.

The meaty mains consist of classic French bistro numbers like duck confit with frisée salad, and beef bourguignon with pommes anna. For the more confident home chefs, the 1kg dry-aged black Angus sirloin is delivered raw and ready to be made your own.

An Italian-Australian mashup of pappardelle with honey bug and prawn marinara will certainly satisfy seafood aficionados, while those more vegetably inclined can enjoy the rich and fluffy gnocchi with veggie ragu and burrata.

While these menu items can all be ordered separately as part of a bespoke home-pub dinner, the Fitz also offers a set of dinner packs that combine items on the menu into multi-course dinners. These include the “Date Night” and “Mediterranean Dreaming” dinner packs for two as well as the extravagant “Get Saucy” for four.

It should be noted that some of the menu items require finishing at home, but this is just to ensure that the experience is as its talented creators intend. Full instructions can be found with each dish on the Old Fitzroy’s delivery webpage.

Speaking of talented creators, the delivery offering at the Old Fitz draws from the pub’s larger menu, all developed by rising star chef, Anna Ugarte-Carral.

The award-winning Chef’s wealth of experience comes from years in the prestigious restaurant scene, from the far-flung and famous Noma in Copenhagen to Sydney haunts like Firedoor, Restaurant Hubert and Momofuku Seiobo among others.

Her culinary globetrotting is certainly evident in the Old Fitz’s menu, which was revamped to accompany the pub’s heroic comeback in February 2021 after its tragic year of COVID-induced closure.

French, Italian and Spanish influence is obvious at a glance, featuring headline items like the bavette steak and frites, minestrone pappardelle and rice-stuffed mussels. An exciting, contemporary Australian flair also comes through, with Aussie natives like honey bug and Murray cod getting a fair shake on the menu as well.

The beverage offering has similarly been revitalised along with the pub’s reopening, featuring a surprisingly large list of pouring wines and even more available by the bottle.

The list is largely populated by a balance of Australian and French bubbles, whites and reds, with the occasional American, Iberian and Italian numbers to round it out.

Several alternative beers are also available, including a pair of Balter ales, as well as some imported Belgian beers and French cider.

So whether you’re keen to explore the Old Fitz’s exciting new menu, or keen to indulge in a lockdown date night with your SO, head on over to the Old Fitz website

Home delivery is available across the inner-city and eastern suburbs, but be sure to enter your postal code at checkout to make sure you’re in the zone. Otherwise, takeaway options are also available in person.
