The Gossip Girl Reboot Is Almost Here: Here’s How You Can Watch it in Australia

Attention all Gossip Girl lovers: Unless you’ve been living under a rock, chances are you’ve already heard that a Gossip Girl reboot is on its way. Once again, everyone’s favourite prep-school drama is making its way back to our screens.

Set to air July 8, 2021 on HBO Max, here’s everything you need to know about the return of GG— including some helpful tips for viewing it from Australia.

Will The New Gossip Girl Be the Same as The Original?

While still focusing on the rich kids of NYC, the new series “will address just how much social media—and the landscape of New York itself—has changed in the intervening years."

According to the show’s screenwriter, Joshua Safran (who also worked on the original series), “it’s just a new look at this particular society in New York, the idea being that society changes constantly.” Safran said. “How has this world changed, how has social media and its effect changed?” he told Hollywood Reporter. “All of those things allow us to look at the world 12 years on as opposed to just redoing the story. None of us are interested in just redoing a story.”

While we won’t be seeing Blair and Serena traipsing around town, we have no doubt that the drama and suspense of the reboot will live up to the original. With a Gen Z focus, and new characters this reboot is likely to delight fans both new and old.

Needless to say, we can’t wait to see how Gossip Girl has taken to social media.

How to Watch the Gossip Girl Reboot in Australia

As is so often the case, the reboot won’t be coming to Australian shores (or screens) immediately. The fact that the new Gossip Girl reboot is streaming on HBO Max makes it a little more difficult for us to access, as the streaming service is technically only available in the United States.

Thankfully, though, there are some workarounds.
