Look Out Melbourne, Another Great Italian Restaurant Is Coming Your Way

Renowned restaurateur Chris Lucas has just announced the group’s plans to launch a third restaurant in Melbourne this year.

Grill Americano is a 145 seater bar and restaurant to open at the prestigious address of 101 Collins Street, just a skip up the road from the group’s ongoing projects, Society and Yakimono

So far, details of the menu are fleeting, but what little we know is tantalising enough. Italian classics like Bistecca Alla Fiorentina and handmade pasta dishes will form the heart of the menu.

Celebrating a particular cuisine culture is nothing new for a Lucas restaurant. The group’s venues have often aimed to authentically represent the history and stories of food from around the world, expanding the impressive cultural pantheon of Australian fine dining.

“My restaurants are about storytelling, about honouring the location, creating a space between fantasy and reality. Restaurants should take you on a journey where you make your own experience” says Lucas.

And a culinary journey is exactly what we can expect.

With an interior inspired by the elegance and classical beauty of Venice, and an authentic imported Neapolitan wood oven as a linchpin of the kitchen, Grill Americano is sure to transport its patrons to the dreamy, intoxicating coastal Italian summer.

Grill Americano is slated to open its doors in October this year, ahead of the forthcoming Yakimono, and will be serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, seven days a week.

And if you can’t wait that long to get a taste of Lucas’ newest Italian incursion, the group has also just announced that the COVID-delayed Society is now officially set to open on the 22nd of July.

All things considered, it is shaping up to be an exciting year for Lucas and Melbourne’s dining scene.
