These Are The Best-Looking Cars at Formula 1 This Year

Formula 1, the highest class of open-wheeled auto racing, is probably one of the most glamorous sports on earth. Every F1 season, hotshot racers like Lewis Hamilton, Fernando Alonso and Max Verstappen blaze a trail from Las Vegas, Istanbul and Berlin to Singapore, Buenos Aires and millionaire’s playground, Monte Carlo.

The famous drivers, the high-profile sponsorships, the luxurious and slightly dangerous atmosphere and out of this world racing events have brought in over 400 million TV viewers in three consecutive years, according to Statista.

Then there are the cars. Each season, Formula 1 teams unveil their multi-million-dollar racing cars with advanced power units, hydraulics, steering wheels, cooling systems and sexy exteriors or ‘liveries’ in a ray of colours to reflect the country and sponsors.

To get you set for the 2021 Formula 1 season, we have rounded up four of the best-looking cars to hit the track.

The Best Looking F1 Cars of 2021

Alpine

This season saw Renault rebranded as the Alpine F1 Team, and with it came an overhaul in design. Last month the first Alpine Formula 1 car, the A521, debuted at Silverstone—the famous British Grand Prix venue. The team retired Renault’s black and yellow; instead, replacing it with “colours of the French and British flags, as well as Alpine’s illustrious and historic racing colours of blue, white and red,” according to the team’s Instagram page.

On the Alpine team this year is Spanish driver Fernando Alonso with 2 titles under his belt and Frenchman Esteban Ocon, who is in his second year with the team.

Aston Martin

The launch of Aston Martin’s AMR21 at the start of March was a momentous occasion marking their return to Formula One after 61 years. Safe to say, it is one the best-looking cars on the grid this year with a chic, deep racing green exterior.

On the team are former Ferrari F1 team member Sebastian Vettel and 22-year-old Lance Stroll, son of Lawrence Stroll—part-owner of the Aston Martin Formula 1 team.

Ferrari

Ferrari has always been a Formula 1 favourite in its trademark red. This year saw the unveiling of the new SF21 in Ferrari red that blends into burgundy at the rear. A change that has sparked much commentary is the not so traditional Mission Winnow logo on the engine cover, which now appears in a neon green—a stark contrast to the former white and black.

On the 2021 Ferrari team this year is Monaco-born Charles Leclerc and Spanish Carlos Sainz Jr, a former member of rival team McLaren.

Mercedes

Mercedes is as slick as ever with their new F1 car, the W12. Mercedes’ traditional racing silver was replaced with a sleek black base livery in 2020, a change made to draw attention to the importance of diversity. The black is broken up by the iconic green of title partner PETRONAS, appearing on the car’s front and rear wings, nose, mirrors and halo.

Mercedes’ stellar line up includes 7-time champion Lewis Hamilton and Valtteri Bottas from Finland.
